Marvin X reading at Laney College, Odell Johnson Theatre, Marvin's former classroom when he taught at  Drama at Laney College, 1981, and produced his play In the Name of Love, a poetic drama, Eldridge Cleaver said returned theatre to the Shakespearean tradition of poetic drama.  Marvin's drama examined polygamy or plural wives, domestic violence and other male/female issues. Ayodele Nzinga was a featured actress and associate director as a student in his theatre class. Zahieb Mwongozi performed the complex role of Marvin X, along with Doris Knight, RIP, as Eternal Woman. Among those who attended the performance multiple times was Dr. Yusef Bey and his entourage. Also, Betty King, aka, Oakland's Mother Theresa! Music was arranged by Umlah Sadou, RIP. Vocals by Zahieb Mwongozi. Leon Teasley,, Marvin's childhood friend from West Oakland, videoed the performance and captured three of Marvin's wives in the theatre lobby: Nisa Ra, Marsha Satterfield and Hurriyah Asar. Teasley's footage will appear in Marvin's video documentary of the Black Arts Movement, The Wild Crazy Ride of the Marvin X Experience. This is a ten-part documentary of Marvin X's history and performance in the Black Arts Movement, the most radical artistic and literary movement in American history.
