In 1969, Governor Ronald Reagan removed Angela Davis and Marvin X from teaching in academia: he removed Angela from UCLA because she was a black Communist; Marvin was banned from Fresno State University because he was a black Muslim who refused to fight in Vietnam.  After two self imposed exiles, Marvin was captured in Belize and returned to America; he served time in Terminal Island Federal Prison.

-Lorenzo Thomas, University of Houston, Texas

These two revolutionaries are still active today and have agreed to an onstage conversation ASAP. Their conversation will cover such topics as the Black liberation Movement, Black Arts Movement, Black Studies and events in the global village, e.g., Africa, Middle East, Asia, Europe and Latin America.

For sure, they will address partner violence and the high  incarceration rate of North American Africans and others; also, possible solutions to the economic morass of poor people in the Age of Obama.

Angela is professor emeritus at UC Santa Cruz. After his removal from Fresno State University, Marvin briefly taught at UC Berkeley, UC San Diego, San Francisco State University, Mills College, University of Nevada, Reno, Laney and Merritt colleges. Ishmael Reed calls him "Plato teaching on the streets of Oakland." His Academy of da Corner is at 14th and Broadway, downtown Oakland.
